The ring has had a very interesting history over the years. Not only has it been a very good item to use, for a long period it was also considered as the main «currency» of Diablo II. It was very common to collect this item in large quantities. Today it has lost its currency status, most probably because of the enhanced significance of runewords when patch 1.10 was released. This led to a massive increase in demand for high level Runes. At first they existed in parallel, because these runes were worth too much and hard to use in practice, however the emergence of duping caused the balance to tip in favour of runes. Today, high level runes are generally considered to be the main currency for Battle.net trading.

Stone of Jordan (SoJ) is a Unique Ring with an item level of 39 and a Character Level requirement of 29.

SoJ’s stats are very useful for mages or caster type characters, and it was one of the most coveted items in the game during D2C. The utility of the item fell considerably with the release of D2X, as other, better unique rings were introduced, and the bonuses provided by the SoJ became more readily available on other items.

Besides its use as an wearable item, the SoJ was hugely desired for its role as a unit of currency, especially during D2C and early in the D2X days.

Since so many SoJs were found and duped, the Uber Diablo quest was added in v1.10 to provide a reward to players who sold SoJs. The aim was to reduce their preponderance in the economy, and though this happened to some degree, adding a valuable quest that could only be enabled by selling SoJs provided some players with additional incentive to dupe them.

Unit of Currency [ edit ]

The larger significance of the Stone of Jordan was as a unit of currency. Since gold was basically worthless in Diablo II, players soon adopted other items as units of trade. Gems were traded at various times, but early on in the days of D2C, the SoJ became the default currency. Top quality items were priced in terms of how many SoJs they were worth, and this value led to massive duping of SoJs, which depressed prices and made it impossible for legitimate players to keep pace with the currency, since finding items was much slower than cheating/duping to create them.

The SoJ lost its place as the chief item of currency during later patches of D2X, as high level runes (HRs) took over that role in the economy. They were duped just as badly as the SoJ had ever been, given their value as currency, and more over their utility for creating runewords.

Diablo 2 Resurrected Stone of Jordan Farming Guide — Best Areas & Magic Find To Find SOJ

The Stone of Jordan is a unique ring from Diablo 2 Resurrected. It is not only powerful, but it has also served a lot at the trade level in the history of D2. 2. How To Find Stone of Jordan in Diablo 2 Resurrected?

All monsters that are level 39 can drop an SOJ (see Diablo 2 Area Level). You can also find them in chests in Nightmare (except in the first areas of Act 1) and Hell modes.

However, the chances of finding one are extremely low. We are talking about one chance in several hundred thousand for a normal monster. You must therefore target certain enemies to hope to increase your chances of drops, but also increase your chances of finding magic Diablo 2 Resurrected items. The Magic Find is indeed an essential element if you want to find SOJs.

2.1. Most Likely Monsters & Bosses (Spots) To Drop SOJ

In Diablo II Resurrected, you have to turn to the end of act bosses, while maximizing your MF (Magic Find), to increase your chances of finding a Stone of Jordan. Here are the monsters that have the best drop rates.

• Andariel Quest in Nightmare Mode
• Andariel Quest in Hell Mode
• Andariel in Nightmare Mode
• Diablo in Normal Mode
• Andariel in Hell Mode
• Duriel in Nightmare or Hell mode

The highest chances are clearly found at Andariel’s quest level, which is the first time you kill her with a character. We are talking about changes that remain quite low despite everything, but which are not negligible.

With 8 people in play and 200% Magic Find, Andariel’s quest in Nightmare mode has a 0.1% chance of dropping an SOJ. In Hell mode, it drops to 0.06%. For Andariel Cauchemar/Enfer, we go down to 0.03% and 0.02%. Thereafter, it gradually drops and it drops to 0.015 for Mephisto for example, and even under 0.01% per run from the Summoner.

If you are alone in the game and you do not have a bonus to the MF, tell yourself that the chances are still drastically reduced. This explains why many players create new characters and pass on MF material just to do Andariel’s quests, and then start again.

Among the monsters that can also drop SOJs, we can point the finger at mobs whose chances of dropping rings are a little better than for others. This is also the case for Blood Raven, Izual, Hephasto, Nihlathak, and Radament in Nightmare or Hell mode. You can also more easily find them on super-unique monsters, ghosts (those that drain mana), and unique monsters in general.

3. Why Andariel is the Best Spot To Farm SOJ?

As you can see, Andariel is clearly to be preferred, especially in Nightmare mode, compared to the bosses of the other acts. What for? Well because Andariel is level 75, which prevents her from dropping some other unique rings. Thus, when a single ring drops, you are more likely to be an SOJ compared to a Mephisto whose level is higher and which can therefore drop a wider panel of rings. The chances are multiplied by two with Andariel!

Note that during a drop, the rarity of a unique ring also comes into play. Each item has a level of rarity in the files. For the Stone of Jordan, this rarity value is 1. For the Frozen Raven unique ring, it is 10. This means that you will find, in absolute terms, 10 Frozen Ravens for a single SOJ. The rarity even rises to 15 in the case of Nagelring and Manald Heal.

Thus, when you drop a unique ring, it still has to be a Stone of Jordan. If you drop 10 unique rings on Andariel in Nightmare mode, you have a 28% chance of getting an SOJ, and an 80% chance if you drop 50 unique rings.

4. Boost your Magic Find

The higher your chances of finding magic items, the more rare items, sets, and unique items you’ll find. However, you should not increase your MF excessively because you should not slow down your runs or die more often. In other words, you have to find the right balance between Magic Find, damage, and resistance.

Thus, there is no point in having +450% MF if you take ten times longer to go and kill Andariel than when you are equipped with +200% MF. In this case, it is better to have less MF but to kill faster.

Here is a table allowing you to know the relationship between the Magic Find and the real bonus which allows you to find unique objects. There is indeed a diminishing return that concerns rare, set, and unique items. This also means that although the «more MF the better» rule still holds, the gains gradually reduce. Your first 200% MF is much, much bigger than going from +600% to +800%.

If we take the Andariel quest again in Nightmare mode for the runs, know that with 0% MF, you have about a 38% chance of finding an SOJ after 1,000 runs. With +200% MF, your chances increase to 64%. With +500% MF, your chances increase to 72%.
